DESCRIPTION
Barnetil acts as a selective D2 and D3 receptor antagonist, which has high affinity for these receptors of dissociation constants of 2.2 nM and 2.4 nM respectively. It is an atypical antipsychotic used to treat psychosis in schizophrenia and episodes of mania in bipolar disorder. It has also been shown to have clinically relevant affinity for the GHB receptor. It was launched by Sanofi-Aventis in 1976.
